In the Groulx riding, a battleground in Quebec's Laurentides region, trader odds remain tightly balanced among leading candidates from the Coalition Avenir Québec, Parti Québécois, Liberals, and Québec solidaire ahead of the October 5 general election. The contest reflects the broader provincial deadlock, with recent polls showing the PQ and CAQ nearly tied in voting intentions after the writs were dropped on August 27. PQ candidate Marie-Claude Sarrazin's August 20 announcement as a former Gallant commission prosecutor has highlighted public finance issues, challenging incumbent CAQ MNA Eric Girard. Other contenders including Julie Tourangeau and Marie-Noëlle Aubertin add to the fragmentation in this nationalist-leaning district, where small shifts in turnout or late provincial momentum could decide the outcome.
