This market will resolve based on the lowest temperature recorded in the 'Daily Observations' table on Weather Underground, not the figure displayed in the 'Day High & Low' summary section; in the event of any discrepancy between the two, the Daily Observations table shall be the primary resolution source not the Day High & Low section. The resolution source for this market will be information from Wunderground, specifically the lowest temperature recorded for all times on this day for the Los Angeles International Airport Station, available here: https://www.wunderground.com/history/daily/us/ca/los-angeles/KLAX. The resolution source for this market measures temperatures to whole degrees Fahrenheit (eg, 21°F). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market. Revisions to temperatures recorded within this market's timeframe will be considered until the first datapoint for the following date has been published, after which any alterations will not be considered.Recent observations from National Weather Service stations, including Los Angeles International Airport, recorded a minimum temperature of 70°F on August 22, 2026, aligning with the market's strong 91.5% implied probability for the 70-71°F bin. Clear skies, light southwest winds, and a shallow or absent marine layer kept overnight radiative cooling limited amid an ongoing warm spell with daytime highs reaching the mid-80s to mid-90s. This placed the low well above the 1991-2020 climatological average near 65°F. Updated model runs and real-time surface data reinforced expectations of minimal overnight drops, while historical analogs for late-August warm periods in the Los Angeles Basin support similarly elevated minima. A shift in marine layer depth or unexpected coastal stratus could have lowered readings toward 66-68°F, but no such development materialized before resolution.
