**Forecast models from the National Weather Service and private sources indicate a high in the low 90s for Houston on September 2, 2026, with afternoon thunderstorms and cloud cover as the main variables.** Recent hot, mostly clear conditions through late August (highs often 97–101°F) are giving way to increased moisture and a weak frontal boundary, raising the chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms by midday Wednesday. This setup typically reduces peak solar heating and caps the daily maximum 2–4°F below what clear-sky guidance would suggest. **Market-implied odds favor 88–91°F because traders weigh the balance between lingering summer heat and convective inhibition of temperature rise.** Historical averages place the September 2 normal high near 91.5°F, but current ensemble guidance shows high humidity (dew points in the mid-70s) and 40–70% storm probabilities during peak heating hours. Stronger or earlier storms would push readings toward the 86–89°F bin; delayed or weaker activity would allow brief climbs into the low 90s. Updated model runs and NWS briefings through the next 48 hours remain the key catalysts that could shift probabilities before resolution.

The resolution source for this market will be information from NOAA, specifically the highest reading under the "Temp" column for all times on this day, available here: https://www.weather.gov/wrh/timeseries?site=khou
This market will resolve off of the Hourly Data provided using the "Show Hourly Data" button.
If NOAA data for the observation date is unavailable by 11:59 PM ET on the day following the observation date, the Weather Underground Daily Observations table will be used as the resolution source.
In the event which there is no data for the observation date by 11:59 PM ET on the day following the observation date, this market will resolve to the lowest bracket.
To toggle between Fahrenheit and Celsius, click the "Switch to US Units w/ kts" button until the relevant table displays °F.
This market can not resolve until the first data point for the following date has been published on the resolution source.
The resolution source for this market measures temperatures to whole degrees Fahrenheit (eg, 21°F). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market.
Revisions to temperatures recorded within this market's timeframe will be considered until the first datapoint for the following date has been published, after which any alterations will not be considered.
