Recent National Weather Service forecasts indicate moderating conditions for Chicago on September 6, with a northeast wind off Lake Michigan following a cold front passage expected to produce a low in the mid to upper 60s under mostly clear skies. This onshore flow, combined with reduced humidity and limited cloud cover, favors stronger nocturnal radiative cooling than recent hot, humid nights but remains several degrees above the 1991–2020 average low of 62.6°F. Model consensus shows limited spread in overnight minimums, though small shifts in wind speed, timing of clearing, or lake-effect moderation could move the outcome across the closely bunched market thresholds near 65–69°F. Updated NWS point forecasts and evening model runs will provide the next key data points for resolution.
