**National Weather Service forecasts call for a high near 98–99°F in Atlanta on September 5 under mostly sunny skies with light northwest winds and only a 10–20% chance of afternoon showers or thunderstorms.** This aligns with the market’s tight leading outcomes at 98–99°F (47.5%) and 96–97°F (38.5%), reflecting model consensus on strong daytime heating amid a prolonged warm spell that has already produced highs in the mid-90s the prior two days. Key differentiators include the exact peak timing of solar insolation before any convective development, boundary-layer moisture that supports heat-index values above 100°F, and subtle steering influences that could allow a brief thunderstorm to clip maximum temperatures by 1–3°F. Official observations through the afternoon will resolve the market as the NHC/NOAA-equivalent local forecast office updates.
