Forecast models and National Weather Service guidance show Denver’s August 31 high centered near 85°F under mostly cloudy skies with a 40–60% chance of afternoon thunderstorms. This consensus places the 82–85°F bins as the clear market leaders, as convection could trim peak heating while abundant moisture and light winds limit overnight cooling. Recent upstream moisture advection has increased storm potential compared with drier conditions earlier in the week, introducing modest downside risk to the upper 80s. Traders weigh the official NWS point forecast against ensemble spread in high-resolution models, noting that any earlier or more widespread storms would favor the 82–83°F outcome while delayed or isolated activity supports 84–85°F. Resolution hinges on the verified daily maximum from Denver-area stations.
