The Côte-du-Sud riding enters the October 5 Quebec general election as a tight three-way contest among the incumbent CAQ’s Mathieu Rivest, PQ nominee Valérie Hamel, PCQ candidate Frédéric Poulin, and PLQ’s Nancy St-Pierre, with recent provincial and riding-level projections placing the top three within a few points amid CAQ erosion since 2022 and gains for PQ and PCQ. The campaign’s early regional focus and fragmented voter preferences across the Bas-Saint-Laurent and Chaudière-Appalaches areas have prevented any contender from consolidating support. Trader consensus reflects this uncertainty through closely matched probabilities, underscoring how local turnout, leader visits, and late-campaign swings on issues such as health services and agriculture could still shift the outcome before nomination deadlines close on September 17.
