Texas's 2nd congressional district remains a strongly Republican-leaning seat encompassing northern Houston suburbs, where Donald Trump carried the area by double digits in the prior cycle. Steve Toth secured the GOP nomination in the March 2026 primary after defeating incumbent Dan Crenshaw, while Democrat Shaun Finnie advanced unopposed on the other side. Nonpartisan forecasters rate the general election as Solid or Safe Republican ahead of the November 3 contest, reflecting the district's consistent partisan tilt, limited Democratic infrastructure, and absence of recent polling shifts or campaign events that would narrow the gap. Trader consensus at these levels aligns with historical base rates for similar Texas suburban districts and accounts for the low likelihood of late-cycle variables altering the outcome.

A candidate without a ballot-listed affiliation to either the Democrat or Republican parties will be considered a member of one of these parties based on the party with which they most recently expressed their intent to caucus at the time all of the House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources.
