Latest National Weather Service guidance and ensemble model runs indicate Atlanta’s overnight low on September 20 will likely settle near 71 °F, supported by a persistent upper-level ridge and surface high that maintain warm, moist southerly flow. High dew points around 70 °F limit radiative cooling overnight, while scattered afternoon thunderstorms may introduce variable cloud cover that either caps daytime heat or traps warmth after sunset. This setup contrasts with the historical average low of 64 °F and explains why the market assigns roughly equal weight to sub-65 °F and 84 °F-plus outcomes: modest shifts in timing of any weak frontal boundary or thunderstorm outflow could alter the minimum by several degrees. Updated 12Z GFS and ECMWF runs plus the next NWS Atlanta forecast discussion will provide the clearest near-term signal.
