Iowa's 1st congressional district features a rematch between Republican incumbent Mariannette Miller-Meeks and Democratic challenger Christina Bohannan, following both candidates securing their party nominations in the June 2026 primaries. Miller-Meeks prevailed comfortably on the Republican side while Bohannan easily won her primary, setting up a contest in a seat rated as a toss-up by forecasters. The district's narrow 2024 margin, combined with its eastern Iowa mix of suburban and rural voters, has positioned it as a prime Democratic target for a pickup in the November general election. Trader pricing at 73% for Democrats reflects the competitive baseline, recent primary outcomes, and historical patterns in midterm cycles where challengers often benefit from national conditions against sitting members. Key upcoming factors include fundraising trends, candidate debates, and any shifts in voter turnout models through the fall campaign.

A candidate's party will be determined by their ballot-listed or otherwise identifiable affiliation with that party at the time all of the 2026 House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources. A candidate without a ballot-listed affiliation to either the Democrat or Republican parties will be considered a member of one of these parties based on the party with which they most recently expressed their intent to caucus at the time all of the House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources.
This market will resolve based on the result of the election as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the United States government, specifically the Federal Election Commission (https://www.fec.gov/).
