Incumbent Democrat Sanford Bishop faces Republican Matt Day in Georgia's 2nd congressional district, a seat rated Solid Democratic by multiple forecasters due to its consistent partisan lean and Bishop's prior 56% general-election performance. Bishop secured the Democratic nomination in the May 2026 primary with minimal opposition, while Day advanced as the Republican nominee. In Georgia's plurality system, the combination of strong Democratic base turnout, limited Republican challengers, and the absence of competitive third-party candidates creates high likelihood that one contender exceeds 50% on November 3, producing an outright winner without a December runoff. Trader consensus at 92% for an outright result aligns with these structural factors and historical patterns in similar safe seats.
