**Forecast consensus from the National Weather Service and other models centers on a high near 96°F for Houston on August 31, 2026, under mostly sunny skies with light southerly winds and only a slight afternoon storm chance.** This aligns with the market’s dominant 94-95°F (59%) and 96-97°F (24%) outcomes, reflecting trader aggregation of real-time model guidance showing strong daytime heating in a humid subtropical regime. Late-summer solar insolation, combined with dew points in the mid-70s and minimal cloud cover, supports peak temperatures in the mid-90s; recent days have already produced highs of 96–98°F, establishing a warm baseline. Any increase in afternoon convection could trim the peak by 1–2°F, which explains the secondary weighting on 92-93°F, while the low odds on 98°F+ reflect the limited upside once boundary-layer moisture and weak steering currents are accounted for. Official observations from Houston-area airports will determine resolution, with no major forecast shifts anticipated before then.
