Latest Met Office guidance and ensemble model runs indicate a maximum of 21–22 °C under high pressure with light westerly winds and variable cloud, keeping trader focus tightly split between the 22 °C and 23 °C contracts. Afternoon solar heating and any breaks in cloud cover could briefly push readings to 23 °C at central London stations, while thicker cloud or a slightly stronger breeze would cap the peak near 21–22 °C. Historical September climatology places the typical daily maximum around 19–20 °C, so current conditions represent modest positive anomalies that support the narrow 50.5 %–44 % market split. Updated hourly observations and the next Met Office briefing later today will determine whether the observed peak settles at or above 23 °C.
