Current National Weather Service and ensemble model guidance for Atlanta on September 7 points to a high in the mid-to-upper 80s, driven by increased easterly flow, higher humidity, and a 30–40% chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms that limit peak insolation. Early September heat (highs near 95°F) is giving way to this modest cooling as a weak boundary approaches, consistent with the 1991–2020 climatological average high of 85.5°F. Traders assign the highest implied probabilities to the 84–85°F and 86–87°F bins because short-range runs show only modest day-to-day variability in maximum temperature, with cloud cover and timing of any precipitation the main variables that could shift the outcome by a degree or two. Historical analogs and recent model consensus support limited upside above 88°F or downside below 82°F absent unexpected changes in steering flow.
