Forecast models from the National Weather Service and supporting guidance show Atlanta under persistent unseasonable warmth, with overnight temperatures bottoming out near 71–72 °F early on September 18 before rising through the mid-90s. This places the day’s minimum squarely in the 70–71 °F range, driving the 89.5 % market-implied probability. Recent observations confirm early-morning readings already at 71 °F under clear skies and light winds, with no incoming cold front or increased cloud cover to accelerate cooling. Historical September averages near 65 °F underscore the anomaly, while the absence of model divergence or updated guidance lowers odds for cooler bins below 68 °F. Traders are therefore positioning around the consensus minimum expected before diurnal heating resumes.
