Domestic violence allegations against incumbent Republican Max Miller from his ex-wife, including claims of physical abuse and harm to their child, have eroded his support in Ohio’s 7th District and prompted calls from some party figures for withdrawal ahead of the November 3 general election. These developments shifted nonpartisan ratings to toss-up status and boosted Democratic nominee Brian Poindexter, a union ironworker and Brook Park council member who won his May primary. Recent polls show Poindexter leading or competitive in a district Trump carried by double digits in 2024, with national Democratic groups adding him to priority programs and increased union spending. Miller has responded with attacks on Poindexter’s prior legal issues and maintains formal party backing plus self-funding, yet trader consensus reflects the scandal’s sustained drag on the Republican position.
