Incumbent Democratic Rep. Nikki Budzinski holds a commanding position in the IL-13 House race due to the district’s consistent Democratic lean, reflected in recent election margins of 15–16 points and its D+5 Cook Partisan Voting Index rating. Primary results showed Budzinski easily advancing after defeating a challenger, while Republicans nominated Jeff Wilson following a low-profile primary. The seat’s configuration in Illinois’s map, combined with Budzinski’s established incumbency advantages and fundraising edge, has produced broad trader consensus around a Democratic hold. Factors that could still shift probabilities include late-breaking scandals, significant health developments for the incumbent, or an unusually strong national Republican midterm wave capable of overcoming the district’s structural tilt.
