Incumbent Democrat Sanford Bishop faces Republican Matt Day in Georgia’s 2nd congressional district on November 3, 2026. The D+4 district has produced consistent Democratic majorities, with Bishop securing 56.3 percent in 2024. Multiple nonpartisan forecasters rate the race Solid or Safe Democratic, reflecting Bishop’s long tenure, primary unopposed status, and the challenger’s limited fundraising. Georgia requires a 50 percent-plus-one threshold for an outright general-election victory to avoid a December 1 runoff. Traders assign 96 percent probability to an outright winner because the seat’s partisan composition and Bishop’s established support make a sub-50 percent finish improbable absent unforeseen developments such as a late scandal or health event.
