Recent model consensus from MetService and global ensembles positions 15°C as the most probable maximum temperature for Wellington on September 6, reflecting mild northwesterly flow ahead of an approaching front that will introduce cooler southeasterlies later in the day. Current observations show temperatures near 14°C under cloudy, windy conditions, with forecast highs of 13–16°C across sources, aligning with the market’s heavy weighting toward 15°C (58.5%) and 16°C (31.5%). Spring climatology supports these values near the seasonal average, though timing of the frontal passage introduces modest uncertainty in peak readings. Updated guidance expected tomorrow morning will refine resolution criteria for this single-day maximum.
