Municipal elections are currently scheduled to be held in Czechia on October 9-10, 2026. The next mayor of Ostrava will be elected by the newly constituted council following the 2026 Czech municipal elections. This market will resolve to the first individual who officially assumes the role of Mayor of Ostrava following the 2026 Czech municipal elections. A qualifying individual must be elected mayor by the city council. Temporary, interim, or placeholder mayors appointed before the election will not be considered. If the result of this election isn't known by June 30, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, the market will resolve to "Other". The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the government of Czechia and Ostrava. The closely matched odds for the next Ostrava mayor reflect a fragmented field ahead of the October 9-10, 2026 communal elections, with no dominant frontrunner emerging from recent coalition formations. Incumbent Jan Dohnal leads the rebranded srdcOVA center-right alliance of ODS, KDU-ČSL, TOP 09 and independents, drawing on his record since 2023 and local incumbency advantages in a city where right-leaning voters have shown strength in recent cycles. ANO candidate Richard Vereš, currently mayor of the Slezská Ostrava district, positions his party to challenge on regional issues amid ANO's historical base in Moravskoslezský kraj. Other contenders—including Ivana Lucáková Nesétová of Naše Česko, Rostislav Řeha of the Pirates, Aleš Boháč of Starostové pro Ostravu, Lukáš Semerák of Ostravak, and Matěj Gregor of Motoristé—split the remaining vote, keeping implied probabilities tight around 45-50% for the leaders. Candidate lists finalized in late August and the absence of major late-breaking developments sustain the balance; shifts could arise from turnout patterns in key districts, coalition negotiations post-vote, or targeted campaigning on local priorities such as infrastructure and economic development.
