Incumbent Democrat Tom Suozzi secured his party's nomination in the June 2026 primary with roughly 80% of the vote and now faces Republican Mike LiPetri in the November 3 general election for New York's 3rd congressional district. Suozzi's moderate profile, strong fundraising, and prior 2024 victory by a narrow margin in this Long Island-based seat have anchored trader consensus around an 85% implied probability for the Democratic nominee. Nonpartisan ratings from outlets such as the Cook Political Report classify the race as Lean Democratic, reflecting the district's partisan voting index and limited recent polling movement. LiPetri's primary win cleared the Republican field but has not yet shifted the broader competitive dynamics ahead of the fall campaign.
