South Carolina's 6th congressional district remains a reliably Democratic seat, with trader consensus reflecting incumbent Jim Clyburn's strong primary performance and the area's consistent partisan lean. Clyburn secured the Democratic nomination in June 2026 by a wide margin, while Republican John Peterson advanced as the GOP nominee. The district, encompassing Columbia, North Charleston, and the Black Belt region, has delivered Democratic victories by double-digit margins in recent cycles, supported by voter demographics and historical turnout patterns. Forecasters rate the race as solid or safe Democratic ahead of the November 3 general election. A substantial shift would require an unusually strong national Republican environment, a significant late development affecting Clyburn's candidacy, or unforeseen changes in local voter mobilization.
