Zambia's presidential election occurred on August 13, 2026, with 8.8 million registered voters participating in the first round. Official results show turnout at 57.23 percent, reflecting a notable decline from the prior cycle amid economic pressures, voter fatigue, and standard logistical factors in a multi-candidate contest. Incumbent Hakainde Hichilema secured reelection with roughly 60 percent of valid votes, while the overall participation rate aligned closely with pre-election expectations shaped by historical patterns and campaign dynamics. This outcome has anchored trader consensus on the 50-60 percent band, as the confirmed figures and absence of major last-minute disruptions reinforce the prevailing assessment of moderate engagement levels.
