Recent polls showing Mary Peltola narrowly ahead or tied with incumbent Dan Sullivan have kept the 2026 Alaska Senate race within a few points, aligning with trader consensus near 51.5% for Peltola and 48.5% for Sullivan ahead of the August 18 top-four primary. Peltola’s substantial fundraising edge and emphasis on Alaska-specific issues have boosted her visibility after her prior statewide win, while Sullivan benefits from incumbency and the state’s Republican lean. Alaska’s ranked-choice voting system introduces additional uncertainty by potentially allowing second preferences to influence the general election outcome. A minor same-name Republican challenger and several long-shot candidates add primary dynamics without shifting the overall balance. The race remains competitive pending primary results and fall campaign developments.
