The 2026 Quebec general election campaign, called August 27 for an October 5 vote, has left Saint-François as a competitive multi-party contest in the Estrie region. Incumbent CAQ MNA Geneviève Hébert faces PQ candidate Sylvie Tanguay, Liberal Jacqueline Belleau, and QS candidate Mia Fréchette, with nominations closing September 17. Provincial polling trends show CAQ support declining under new Premier Christine Fréchette amid broader shifts toward the PQ and Liberals, while riding-level projections from models like 338Canada and Qc125 indicate a toss-up environment driven by first-past-the-post dynamics and uncertain turnout. Trader consensus reflects this balance, with no single candidate establishing a durable edge in the absence of decisive local polling or campaign events. Key factors that could widen gaps include regional economic concerns, leader performances in debates, or shifts in provincial momentum before election day.
