Élodie Murphy-Gauthier of the Parti québécois leads trader pricing at 69.5% in the Laviolette–Saint-Maurice riding for the October 5, 2026 Quebec general election, ahead of CAQ candidate Guy Veillette at 19.5% and lower probabilities for other nominees. Recent riding projections from 338Canada and Qc125 place the PQ ahead or in a narrow contest with the CAQ after transposing 2022 results onto the updated map, reflecting provincial trends favoring the PQ in the Mauricie region. Murphy-Gauthier, a local family physician who launched her campaign in April 2026, has emphasized health-care access and social services, drawing on her decade of practice in Shawinigan. Veillette, a longtime regional journalist and former constituency staffer for the retiring CAQ incumbent, benefits from deep local roots but contends with the CAQ’s broader challenges. Nominations close September 17, leaving limited time for further shifts before voters decide.
