Arizona’s 1st congressional district remains one of the most competitive House seats heading into the November 2026 general election following incumbent Republican David Schweikert’s withdrawal to pursue the governorship. The July 21 primaries produced Democratic nominee Amish Shah, a former state legislator and emergency physician who previously challenged Schweikert, and Republican nominee Jay Feely, a former NFL player and political outsider endorsed by Donald Trump. Cook Political Report rates the open seat a toss-up, noting the district’s narrow partisan leanings after recent presidential results. Traders assign the Democratic nominee a 75.5% implied probability of victory, reflecting assessments of the national midterm environment, candidate profiles, and the district’s recent movement toward the center, while the Republican nominee holds 25.5%. Upcoming general-election polling and campaign developments through the fall will continue to shape positioning.

A candidate's party will be determined by their ballot-listed or otherwise identifiable affiliation with that party at the time all of the 2026 House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources. A candidate without a ballot-listed affiliation to either the Democrat or Republican parties will be considered a member of one of these parties based on the party with which they most recently expressed their intent to caucus at the time all of the House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources.
This market will resolve based on the result of the election as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the United States government, specifically the Federal Election Commission (https://www.fec.gov/).
