A crowded nonpartisan top-four primary on August 18, 2026, with 17 candidates fragments the vote and sustains tight trader odds for first place. Recent April polling showed Tom Begich leading at 19 percent, followed by Bernadette Wilson, Dave Bronson, and Click Bishop in the low teens, while Adam Crum, Bill Walker, and others trail. Fundraising reports and candidate filings through early summer, plus the just-released voter guide, underscore limited separation. Republican vote splitting and independent entries further compress probabilities, with no single frontrunner emerging ahead of early voting. Late campaign events or turnout shifts among key blocs could still reorder the field before ballots close.
