Multiple candidates in the Republican primary for Georgia's open 11th district created a fragmented field, with neurosurgeon John Cowan, Loudermilk chief of staff Rob Adkerson, and others splitting support ahead of the May 19 vote. Georgia's majority requirement for outright nomination meant even a modest vote split could force a June 16 runoff, keeping the probability of no first-round winner near even. Trader assessments reflected the district's conservative primary electorate, limited polling, and historical patterns in crowded open-seat contests where no single contender consolidated backing early. A late endorsement surge or turnout surge for one frontrunner could have produced a majority and shifted the implied odds.
