Incumbent Nikema Williams captured roughly 88% in the May 19, 2026 Democratic primary for Georgia’s 5th congressional district, well above the majority threshold that eliminates the need for a runoff under state rules. Republican nominee John Salvesen likewise advanced outright after facing no significant opposition. These results reflect the district’s strong partisan composition and limited primary field, consistent with prior cycles where incumbents or unopposed candidates clear the bar on the first ballot. With primaries resolved months ahead of the November general election, trader consensus reflects the low probability of any remaining first-round uncertainty.
