National Weather Service forecasts for Chicago on August 30 point to a daily maximum near 84°F under mostly cloudy skies, with a 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon, and southwest winds of 10-15 mph gusting to 25 mph. These conditions create tight uncertainty between the leading 82-83°F and 84-85°F outcomes, as increased cloud cover and any convective activity can suppress peak solar heating and enhance mixing, while clearer breaks or delayed storms allow brief warming closer to 85°F. The projected high sits modestly above the 1991-2020 climatological average of 81°F, with model consensus emphasizing modest instability rather than strong advection of warmer air. Traders appear to weigh the balance between these meteorological variables, with fresh observational data and updated model runs expected to narrow the range before resolution based on the official NOAA reading at Chicago O'Hare.
