Recent July FOMC minutes and the June dot plot reveal a hawkish shift at the Federal Reserve, with three dissents favoring a 25-basis-point hike amid headline PCE inflation near 4.1% and core measures around 3.3-3.6%, driven by tariffs, Middle East energy shocks, and AI-related demand. This has elevated market-implied odds of a December tightening while supporting the 60.5% consensus for no change, as incoming data show moderating job growth, a stable 4.1-4.3% unemployment rate, and some cooling in recent CPI prints. Traders price the current 3.50-3.75% fed funds range as appropriate given resilient GDP and balanced labor conditions, though September and December meetings plus fresh inflation releases remain key swing factors that could alter the path toward the Fed's 2% goal.
