Tight inventories, running 6% below the five-year average, combined with steady summer driving demand, have limited downside while capping near-term upside through September. Record U.S. natural gas production and high storage levels exert indirect pressure via refining margins, though futures curves through September stay below key strike thresholds. The next EIA Short-Term Energy Outlook on September 9 and weekly inventory data will provide fresh signals on supply-demand balance ahead of the month-end resolution window. Trader consensus prices in modest probability of further spikes absent major disruptions.
