Incumbent Republican Brenna Bird holds a modest edge in trader consensus for the November 2026 Iowa Attorney General race, reflecting her 2022 narrow victory and advantages in cash on hand after national party support. Both candidates secured uncontested primaries in June, setting up a rematch against Democrat Nate Willems, a former state representative focused on expanding state enforcement in areas such as wage theft. Recent developments include Bird’s distribution of opioid settlement grants and establishment of a Medicaid fraud task force, alongside ongoing multistate efforts on robocalls, while Willems has emphasized state-level consumer protections. Fundraising reports through mid-July showed Bird with roughly double the cash reserves, and earlier polling indicated a tight contest. These factors sustain competitive implied probabilities ahead of the general election.
