Mississippi's 4th congressional district, covering the Gulf Coast region including Gulfport, Biloxi, and Hattiesburg, has favored Republican candidates by wide margins in recent cycles, with the incumbent securing over 70 percent of the general election vote in 2022. Republican Mike Ezell consolidated support by defeating his primary challenger in March 2026, while Democrat Jeffrey Hulum III emerged from a low-turnout primary to face him alongside an independent in the November general election. Traders assign the Republican Party a commanding lead because historical voting patterns, district demographics, and the absence of competitive polling or fundraising data point to limited crossover appeal for the Democratic nominee. A realistic shift would require major late-cycle developments such as a national political realignment or unforeseen candidate-specific events capable of altering turnout among core Republican voters.
