The Parti Québécois maintains a consistent lead in provincial voting intentions at around 29 percent, driven by strong francophone support near 36-38 percent, which translates into a substantial edge in seat projections under Quebec’s first-past-the-post system. This positioning has produced trader consensus favoring a PQ plurality or minority government ahead of the October 5 election. Recent developments include the August 27 dissolution of the National Assembly, gains by the Coalition Avenir Québec under new Premier Christine Fréchette that have narrowed the gap at the Liberals’ expense, and ongoing voter fluidity with roughly 42 percent of decided respondents open to changing preferences. Key campaign issues such as healthcare access, cost of living, U.S. tariffs, and the timing of any sovereignty referendum continue to shape regional and linguistic divides without yet shifting the overall hierarchy.
