Recent forecasts from multiple models indicate a period of increased cloud cover, showers, and thunderstorms over the NYC area on September 2, driven by a passing frontal system and southeasterly flow advecting humid marine air. This reduces surface insolation and caps daytime heating, favoring maximum temperatures in the mid-70s rather than the low-80s possible under clearer skies. Trader consensus around 74–77°F reflects agreement on this pattern while allowing for modest model spread in shower timing and intensity, which can shift peaks by several degrees. Historical September averages near 76–78°F provide context, but the current unsettled regime introduces measurable cooling relative to seasonal norms.
