Recent National Weather Service and private forecasts indicate Los Angeles highs on September 1 will likely fall in the upper 70s to mid-80s as a heatwave subsides and marine-layer influence strengthens under southwest flow. Key variables differentiating the tightly bunched 70–79 °F market bins include the precise depth and timing of the marine layer, onshore wind strength that modulates afternoon heating, and any lingering subtropical moisture. Historical early-September averages near 77 °F at downtown and LAX stations provide context, but short-range model spread on boundary-layer mixing keeps multiple temperature brackets at comparable implied probabilities. Updated NWS guidance and morning soundings over the next 48 hours will refine the final reading.
