Official observations from Austin-area stations recorded a minimum temperature of 72°F on August 29, 2026, under clear skies and light southerly flow that limited nocturnal cooling. This aligns with the market-implied 70-71°F outcome at 100% consensus, reflecting the typical late-summer radiative cooling pattern where dew points near 70°F and minimal cloud cover prevent temperatures from dropping further. Historical climatology shows August lows averaging 71-73°F, and recent model guidance from NOAA confirmed stable high pressure with no frontal passages or increased moisture to enhance cooling. A realistic challenge could arise only from a localized measurement discrepancy at the resolving station or an unreported microclimate effect, though such revisions remain rare after initial quality control.
