The tight Polymarket pricing around 43% for both Pierre Guillot-Hurtubise (CAQ) and Frédéric Côté (PQ) in the La Prairie riding reflects the broader volatility of Quebec’s October 5, 2026 general election, called August 27 after dissolution of the National Assembly. Provincial polls show the PQ holding a narrow lead that has narrowed sharply as the CAQ rebounds under Christine Fréchette, with recent surveys placing the two parties within a few points amid francophone voter shifts and tariff-related issues. La Prairie’s suburban Montreal demographics have historically favored the CAQ, yet the absence of longtime incumbent Christian Dubé (now Independent) and the presence of competitive new candidates for the PQ, Liberals, and QS keep the seat in play. Further movement in province-wide polling, riding-specific surveys, or campaign momentum in the final weeks could widen the gap between the top two contenders.
