Lebanon’s parliamentary elections, originally set for 2026 but postponed to 2028 amid the Israel-Hezbollah conflict and related security disruptions, face a highly fragmented field under the country’s confessional seat allocation. Trader consensus prices Amal Movement slightly ahead at low single-digit implied probability due to its established role in parliament, alliance dynamics with Hezbollah, and Speaker Nabih Berri’s institutional influence, while Christian- and Sunni-leaning parties such as Lebanese Forces and Free Patriotic Movement trail amid divided voter bases. Primary drivers include ongoing U.S.-mediated talks on state monopoly over arms, reconstruction pressures, and demographic shifts in the electorate. Consolidation behind any single contender would require major breakthroughs in disarmament sequencing, shifts in Shia or Christian turnout patterns, or new cross-sectarian alliances ahead of the delayed vote.
