Parliamentary elections are scheduled to be held in Sweden on September 13, 2026. This market will resolve to the next individual who is officially appointed and assumes office as Prime Minister of Sweden following the next parliamentary election. To count for resolution, the individual must officially assume office. Any interim or caretaker Prime Minister will not count toward the resolution of this market. If no such Prime Minister assumes office by June 30, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to “Other”. The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the Government of Sweden; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.Sweden's September 13, 2026 parliamentary election shapes the "next prime minister" market, with recent opinion polls showing the centre-left bloc led by Social Democrats under Magdalena Andersson holding a consistent 7–10 point advantage over the incumbent right-wing coalition. Surveys from Demoskop, Novus, and Verian in July–August place her party near 30–32% support, the Sweden Democrats around 20%, and the Moderates near 17%, projecting roughly 196 seats for the opposition versus 153 for the government. This positioning stems from sustained voter shifts away from Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson's four-party arrangement, including support from the Sweden Democrats, amid stable bloc trends that have narrowed only modestly in the final weeks. Andersson's strong personal standing as opposition leader and the structural barriers facing smaller parties reinforce trader consensus around an 85%+ implied probability for her return, while alternatives like Jimmie Åkesson or Ebba Busch remain marginal due to coalition math and limited parliamentary paths. The election timeline leaves limited room for late reversals before resolution.
