Governor Peter Mbah holds a commanding lead in the 2027 Enugu governorship race after defecting from the PDP to the APC in late 2025 and securing his party’s sole nomination through a May 2026 primary. Broad endorsements from Ohanaeze Ndigbo Enugu, Nsukka zone, Igbo-Etiti stakeholders, the northern community, and youth groups highlight his record on infrastructure, security, and economic projects, alongside adherence to the state’s longstanding zoning rotation. Recent APC victories, including a June 2026 senatorial by-election landslide, reinforce trader views of party dominance ahead of the February 2027 vote. Fragmented opposition figures such as James Ene Nwannaji of the NDC and Geoffrey Uchechukwu Nnaji face limited organized backing, keeping their implied probabilities low.
