Incumbent Democrat Don Davis faces Republican Laurie Buckhout in the November 3, 2026, contest for North Carolina’s 1st congressional district. The seat shifted notably rightward after October 2025 redistricting that consolidated more Republican-leaning rural and coastal counties, raising the district’s partisan baseline by roughly eight points relative to the 2024 map. Davis won a narrow 2024 rematch under the prior lines, but the new boundaries and Buckhout’s March 2026 primary victory have tightened the race. Trader pricing reflects these competing forces, with the Democratic nominee holding a modest edge amid national midterm dynamics, early absentee voting timelines beginning in September, and limited recent general-election polling that has yet to clarify turnout patterns in the revised district.
