**Official National Weather Service observations from Chicago O’Hare recorded a maximum temperature of 81°F on September 5, 2026, at 2:37 p.m. CDT, directly supporting the market’s 100% consensus on the 80–81°F bin.** This followed several days of abnormally high readings in the low-to-mid 90s driven by a warm, humid air mass, with the September 5 moderation resulting from a shift to northeast winds, increased cloud cover, and patchy fog that limited daytime heating. The value sits just 2°F above the 1991–2020 normal high of 79°F. Realistic challenges to this outcome remain minimal, as any revision would require an unlikely official data correction from NOAA or use of a non-standard station; traders’ skin-in-the-game alignment with verified measurements has produced near-certainty once the climatological report was released.
