Paul St-Pierre Plamondon of the Parti Québécois leads the market at 72 percent because his party holds a consistent polling advantage among francophone voters ahead of the October 5, 2026, provincial election. Recent seat projections favor the PQ forming government, while the Coalition Avenir Québec’s Christine Fréchette, who assumed the premiership after her April 2026 leadership win, trails amid declining support. Charles Milliard, acclaimed Liberal leader in February 2026, sits at 16.5 percent as his party attempts to rebuild through economic messaging. Plamondon’s recent pledge to defer any independence referendum until after U.S. President Trump’s term ends has helped stabilize PQ positioning by addressing voter concerns over timing. These factors shape trader consensus on the likely outcome.
