Recent National Weather Service and model guidance for Houston on September 1 points to a high in the low-to-mid 90s amid elevated Gulf moisture from a weak tropical disturbance, creating 40-50% afternoon thunderstorm chances that introduce key uncertainty. Strong daytime heating and humidity support potential peaks near 93-94°F if convection remains limited or delayed, while earlier or widespread storms could cap readings closer to 90°F through cloud cover and evaporative cooling. These factors explain the tight clustering of market-implied odds around the 88-93°F bins, reflecting trader assessment of short-term forecast variability ahead of updated NHC and local model runs. Historical September 1 averages near 91-92°F provide baseline context for the current setup.
