AfD maintains a commanding position in the September 6, 2026, Saxony-Anhalt Landtag election due to sustained polling leads of 41–43 percent since spring, well ahead of the CDU at 22–24 percent and Die Linke at 13 percent. Eastern German voter priorities on immigration, economic stagnation, education outcomes, and demographic decline have boosted AfD support under lead candidate Ulrich Siegmund, while smaller parties such as SPD, Greens, FDP, and BSW hover near or below the 5 percent threshold. This fragmentation raises the prospect of an AfD absolute majority despite a sub-50 percent vote share. Trader consensus reflects the absence of major recent shifts in surveys or events that would narrow the gap before election day. Late developments such as turnout surges among opposition voters or unforeseen party-list issues could still alter seat allocations, though current patterns indicate limited scope for reversal.
