Official forecasts from the National Weather Service Houston/Galveston office and supporting model guidance indicate a high near 92°F for Houston on September 17, driven by partly sunny skies, easterly flow, and a 40-50% chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms tied to incoming tropical moisture. These storms, limited by a strong atmospheric inversion, are expected to increase cloud cover and promote localized cooling through evaporation and reduced insolation, preventing temperatures from exceeding the mid-90s. This aligns with September climatology where the average high sits near 91°F, while elevated humidity sustains heat indices above 100°F. Recent model runs show minimal day-to-day shifts, supporting trader emphasis on the 90-93°F range as the most probable outcome ahead of final observations.
