The solidly Republican tilt of Kansas’s 2nd congressional district underpins trader consensus favoring the Republican nominee. Incumbent Derek Schmidt secured renomination in the August 4, 2026, primary with roughly 80 percent of the vote against a single challenger, while Democrat Don Coover advanced unopposed on the other side. Cook Political Report continues to rate the seat Solid Republican, consistent with the party’s 57 percent share in the prior cycle and the district’s consistent support for GOP candidates across eastern Kansas counties. With the general election still three months away and no major polling shifts or late developments reported, traders assign limited probability to an upset.

A candidate without a ballot-listed affiliation to either the Democrat or Republican parties will be considered a member of one of these parties based on the party with which they most recently expressed their intent to caucus at the time all of the House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources.
